Today is KINGDOM HEARTS χ[chi]’s first anniversary, and there’s an incredible surprise awaiting players in Daybreak Town. As we finally gain access to other areas of the world, we discover gummi pieces scattered throughout all over the place, a hot-headed duck and a bashful dog. Who are they, and what are they doing here? We’ll have updates and translations available shortly, but for now, please enjoy this special artwork by Tetsuya Nomura to celebrate the occasion!
KINGDOM HEARTS x [chi],
for everyone out there that wields a Keyblade,
thank you so much.
In this world, Keyblades are wielded in great efforts to protect its balance, and we welcome and greet its first anniversary.
The management staff gives special thanks.
For commemorating the first year anniversary in appreciation,
I drew a new picture,
which I foresaw as a card for everyone to retrieve.
By all means, continue to protect the balance in this world,
and I’m glad you are enjoying this game.

KINGDOM HEARTS X[CHI] WAS ALMOST LOCALISED INTO ENGLISH
According to a source close to Siliconera, Kingdom Hearts X[chi] was definitely going to be localized and released in English by Disney, as we had discovered in November last year. Apparently, this all changed earlier this year, when Playdom, a social game network owned by Disney Interactive, unfortunately closed down.
This does not necessarily mean that Square Enix have given up on bringing us this Kingdom Hearts browser-title, as claimed by another of Siliconera’s source close to Square Enix. According to said source, the developer has been busy discussing with other publishers in the west who could be willing to bring us the game overseas.
Merchandise is a great way for fans to support a series, whether it be a game, film or television, or music. For Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, the merchandise has been very poor. There’s no manga, play arts, mugs, tote bags or towels.
Following the line of Rubber Straps (1) (2), hidemi_mad_dog has unveiled a new set of 6 straps, 3 of which will feature Birth by Sleep's very own Terra, Aqua, and Ventus!
Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII), Halloween Town Sora, and a Shadow Heartless also are included in the bundle.
Goldpanner has translated Director Tetsuya Nomura’s comments from Kingdom Hearts Character’s Report Vol. 1. He offers some real insight regarding various characters and worlds from Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, so be sure to check it out.
If Mickey is the king, then following medieval fantasy tradition, his two retainers must be a knight and a magician. Then, I simply thought it would be very cute to hear Donald’s voice casting spells, so I made him the magician. Disney had the opinion that as Donald was the one with the temper he would better suit the knight role, but the image of Donald casting spells was already complete in my head, and nothing could change it. Please take note of the zipper on his hat. It actually goes in a spiral shape, so if you were to undo it his hat would become one long piece of cloth.
Kairi, who was a tomboy in KHI, became a little bit more mature in KHII. She changed a lot outwardly since at that age girls grow a lot faster than boys, but her lively personality didn’t fundamentally change. Enough that ‘with Riku and Sora gone, right now Kairi is the strongest person on Destiny Islands’ is an actual premise. I like the scene in KHI, when she watches the sunset with Sora, and tells him not to change. I thought it showed very well her anxiety and loneliness over how as we get older we find a distance growing between us and our close friends.
100 Acre Wood
In both KHI and KHII, the part where the cover of the picture book is completed at the end makes me cry. Pooh himself doesn’t realise that he won’t be able to see Sora and the others again—which is far too upsetting. I feel like I really am a child, or something. It’s very difficult to write dialogue for those peculiar characters. Each time I work very hard to give them their particular, odd voices.
While Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix has been getting a lot of exposure lately, both Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded seem to have disappeared out of the picture. Today, however, a new scan has appeared highlighting Hercules (Disney’s Hercules) and Cloud (Final Fantasy VII) in Olympus Coliseum, as well as Jafar and Jasmine from Disney’s Aladdin.
Every now and then, someone will dig back into old booklets and magazines and discover a hidden treasure; a unique piece of artwork or comment from a staff member revealing a precious secret. These things have often been dismissed as not being worth anyone’s attention at first glance, but when you come back upon it, it’s like discovering a diamond in the rough.
Today’s trivia falls within this category, and is brought to you by forum member hemmoheikkinen, who recently flipped through his copy of the Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix+ Ultimania and uncovered some familiar pieces of artwork with comments by Director Tetsuya Nomura. One of these comments caught our eye, and thanks to Zephyr, you can read it below:
I’m really sorry. It was already too late by the time I noticed. I painted the colors of Riku’s clothes incorrectly. In order to show my foolishness, it will be posted as it is. For many fans, I’m really sorry.
You’re probably wondering what exactly Nomura is referring to. When has Riku been colored wrong? And why was it such a big deal?

Living up to its name, “It’s a Wonderful World” is truly a wonderful game.
アメリカで、「The World Ends With You」（あなたで世界が終わる）とよばれてるんだ。
It’s known as “The World Ends With You” in America.
But the titles’ meanings are a little bit different, aren’t they?
Although the Japanese title’s meaning is “This world is wonderful,” the American title seemingly expresses a darker theme.
However, when you play the game, the theme becomes clear.
It expresses the idea that the world is only as big as you make it.
Therefore, the American title is “The World Ends With You.”
I think translation differences like this are very interesting!"
